NETWORK CONNECTION PROCEDURES

QUICK NETWORK SETUP FOR MACINTOSH 10.4.11 or later

Using a Macintosh computer and a standard ethernet cable, one end plugged into the Galileo ethernet port, the other into the Macintosh ethernet port.

System Preferences > Network

Select a new Location and label it "Galileo Direct"
Show: Built-in Ethernet
Select TCP/IP
Configure IPv4: Manually
IP Address: 192.168.0.10
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.0.1 (Galileo uses the term: "Gateway")

Galileo Front Panel: System Settings > Network

Select "Static" for IP Type
IP Address: 192.168.0.170
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Scroll down using the navigation buttons and select: "Write Network Settings"

QUICK NETWORK SETUP FOR WINDOWS XP SP2

Using a computer running Windows XP SP2 and a standard ethernet cable, one end plugged into the Galileo ethernet port, the other into the computer's ethernet port.

Settings > Network Connections > Local Area Connection > Properties

Select Internet Protocol TCP/IP
Select "Properties"
Select "Use the following IP address:"
IP Address: 192.168.0.10
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Leave "Obtain DNS Server address automatically" selected

Galileo Front Panel: System Settings > Network

Select "Static" for IP Type
IP Address: 192.168.0.170
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Scroll down using the navigation buttons and select: "Write Network Settings"

COMPASS CONTROL SOFTWARE SETTINGS

Galileos Tab

Press the "Add Galileo" Button
IP Address: 192.168.0.170
Nickname: Galileo
Tab Name: Click OK to accept default name or create a new name.
Press "Refresh" to check the network status of the Galileo.
Press the "Connect" button when the network status shows "Available." This will create a new tab at the top of the window.
