Installation Procedure: Galileo Firmware Update

NOTE:
In order to install the latest firmware, you must operate the latest version of the Compass Control Software. When the update is complete, the software and firmware version numbers should be the same. The version number for each can be found in the About Compass and the About function accessible from the Galileo front panel under "Settings." You can also view the firmware version from the Galileos tab. Current firmware will be highlighted in blue and the version number will be shown as "2.1.0."

Step One: Download Updates and Extract the Archive: Galileo Firmare 2.1.0.

Download the Compass Control Software Version 2.1.0 for Mac OS X or Windows and unzip the archive to the Desktop.
Mac OS X Users: Launch the Compass application from the Compass 2 folder.
Windows Users: Launch the installer program from the Compass 2 folder.
Both software packages will contain the latest firmware. The filetype is "galileoFirmware"

Be sure that you are connected to your Galileo device and launch the Compass Control Software Ver.2.1.0. Review the Connection Procedures if you are having difficulty connecting to the Galileo device.

Step Two: Locate Network Settings Tab

Go to Settings > Network in the current Galileo tab.

Step Three: Press the Button.

Press the Upload Firmware button and go to the folder where your most recent Compass Control Software is located.

Step Four: Select the File.

Select the appropriate GalileoFirmware file and press the open button to begin uploading the firmware to the Galileo. This process could take several minutes to complete the transfer and update the firmware. DO NOT SWITCH OFF THE GALILEO DURING THIS PROCESS!

A status window appears during the update process. You can update multiple Galileos by closing the uploading message dialogue and repeat the steps for other Galileos.

Step Five: Close and Reboot.

When the update is complete press the Close Dialog button and cycle the power to the Galileo device so that the changes can take effect. Once rebooted, press the refresh button to verify the firmware for the updated device.

Step Six: Verify!

Once the update is complete, be sure to confirm the device firmware version and that it matches the version of your Compass Control Software. It is critical to match the software version with the firmware version to ensure stability during operation.
