MEYER INTRODUCES BRAND-NEW HM-1S STUDIO MONITOR
Sophisticated, Self-Powered Monitor is Ideal for Broadcast Rooms,
Recording Studios Project Studios, and Home Theater Systems

At the 103rd AES Convention, Meyer Sound is launching the latest addition to the HM Product Series: the HM-1S Self-Powered Studio Monitor. Unlike the HM-1 loudspeaker released earlier this year for the contractor market, the HM-1S is intended for highly-refined monitoring applications in recording studios, post-production facilities, project studios, and broadcast rooms. The remarkable sonic quality and artful design of the HM-1S are also perfectly suited for surround sound multi-channel systems in commercial and home theaters.

TECHNICAL DISTINCTIONS: Phase Correction and a True Single-Point Source The HM-1S Studio Monitor was developed for discriminating listeners who require high levels of sonic precision. The HM-1S incorporates many new technical developments from Meyer, including:

The unique co-axial speaker design required refinements of its own: "The transparent imaging of the HM-1S is the result of our work with phase correction, and a strong desire to eliminate those 'signatures' that tip off listeners that they're listening to co-axial speakers," said John Meyer, President of Meyer Sound. "We eliminated interference patterns that plague customary dual-concentric designs by using both electronic and acoustical methods, including the employment of a foam ring that dampens the back-wave from the tweeter."

The HM-1S: An Elegant Design
Aesthetic detailing to the HM-1S includes gold-plated connectors, and an improved enclosure made of denser material with an oak veneer, which offers better dampening characteristics. The polished appearance is clean and attractive for studios, listening rooms, and home surround sound systems.

Technical Specifications
The HM-1S is very compact (8.4" W x 11" H x 9.7" D, and 11 lbs.), high-powered, two-way loudspeaker system comprising a 7" graphite cone low-frequency driver, and a concentrically-mounted 1" soft-dome, high frequency driver with constant-directivity horn, affording a100° beamwidth, in a vented cabinet.

Biamplifiers delivering 400 Watts total power output are built into the enclosure. The HM-1S offers full-range response (42 Hz to 20 kHz).

It employs TruPower™ limiting (TPL), the first limiting technology that accurately calculates power dissipation within the speaker. It also includes Intelligent AC™, a power supply that protects the amplifier and drivers by auto-selecting the voltage, minimizing in-rush current, filtering EMI, and performing surge protection.
