Meyer Engineers Present Technical Paper

“Optimization Using Modified All-Pass Filters for Magnitude Compensation”
Session E: Analog Signal Processing for Audio
9:00 am     September 27, 1998 (Sunday)

Meyer design engineers Paul Kohut and Justin Baird will present a technical paper that they co-authored. The session will be chaired by Marshall Buck, of Psychotechnology, Inc. in Los Angeles, California.

This paper describes a unique filter form that has been characterized in commonly used design parameters. This new filter form, termed a MAPF (Modified All-Pass Filter) allows for a significant reduction in system complexity by combining two filter functions into one (magnitude equalization and phase correction).

The MAPF has significance in a number of different concentrations, including loudspeaker optimization, sound spatialization, and algorithms such as reverberators and speaker simulators.
