Final Coverage - 107th AES Convention |
The 107th AES Convention was full of events for Meyer Sound. The
company's PSW-6
cardioid subwoofer, on display at the Meyer Sound booth (#444),
was awarded a Technical
Excellence and Creativity (TEC) Award for outstanding technical
achievement for sound reinforcement loudspeaker technology. The award,
which was established in 1985, honors outstanding achievement in the professional
recording and sound production industry.
Another notable event which took place at this year's AES Convention was the guest appearance of Mickey Hart, percussionist and ethnomusicologist. Hart, who is best known for his three decades with the Grateful Dead, discussed his recording experiences using Meyer Sound's 5.1 Surround Sound system. While relating his recording experiences using the technology, he commented that 5.1 is what stereo was to mono, a technological advancement, which once you experience, you won't want to go back. Comprising the two 5.1 Surround Sound systems on display at the Meyer Sound demo room (3D01) were HD-1s and UPM-1Ps, with both systems utilizing the new Meyer Sound UMS-1P professional reinforcement subwoofers. Other Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeaker systems on display included the SB-1 parabolic sound beam, the UPA-P series, the MSL-4 and DS-4P as well as the company's new L-Track rigging and retrofit hardware.
Make sure to visit Meyer Sound in 2000 at the AES European Convention in
Paris on February 19-22 to view the latest in innovative self-powered
loudspeaker technology. Daily coverage begins on Saturday, February 19.
