Beauty and the Beast-Australia Goes High-Q with UPA-2Cs and UPM-2s

Jands Production Services of Sydney has purchased Meyer Sound equipment for use in the Australian production of Walt Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The phenomenally successful musical theater production has garnered rave reviews in New York City and Los Angeles, where it plays with all Meyer Sound systems. It premiers at Melbourne's Princess Theatre in July.

Jands is providing Beauty and the Beast with two of Meyer Sound's newest products, the UPA-2C and UPM-2 Reinforcement Loudspeakers, making Jands Production Services one of the first Australian sound companies to utilize these state-of-the art Meyer loudspeaker systems. Both systems employ new aspherical high-frequency waveguides and are designed specifically to afford exceptional clarity in reverberant environments. The UPA-2C will serve in the sound system's main PA arrays, while the UPM-2 provides stage lip and under-balcony fill.

"The production is technically very sophisticated," comments John Meyer, President of Meyer Sound. "We are proud to be working with a company of Jands' caliber in a closely cooperative effort to satisfy Disney's requirements, and we believe that this direct sale, by Meyer to Jands, signals a new era for the distribution of Meyer Sound products in Australia."

The entire system will be tested and aligned with Meyer's revolutionary SIM System II, a computer-based DSP (digital signal processing) analyzer designed specifically for professional sound. Winner of the coveted R&D 100 Award as "one of the 100 most technologically significant new products of 1992," SIM System II is the mainstay of the U.S. productions of Beauty and numerous other musicals on Broadway and London's West End.
