D'Angelo Finds Extraordinary Sound with His New HD-2s

R & B artist D'Angelo chose Meyer Sound HD-2 Mid-Field Monitors as the principal monitors in his new project studio, currently under construction at his home in Fort Lee, N.J. D'Angelo plans to use the studio for preproduction for his new album, as well as for mixes for other artists. Singer D'Angelo received three Grammy Award nominations for his debut album, D'Angelo Brown Sugar, released in 1995.

Gordon Mack, production manager for D'Angelo, said that D'Angelo liked the "warmth and richness" of the HD-2s sound. "He prefers Meyer monitors for live sound, so it makes sense he would like the HD-2s," Mack explained.

The HD-2 Mid-Field Monitor features a 10-inch cone low-frequency driver and a patented, low-distortion, 1-inch dome high-frequency driver. The monitor offers a frequency response of 28 Hz to 21 kHz (-3 dB points), and a phase response of ±60 degrees from 60 Hz to 20 kHz.
