Montreux Jazz Festival Travels the World
| ||||
The Montreux Jazz Festival moved beyond the shores of Lake Geneva with three dates in New York's Central Park this Labor Day weekend. The Jazz Festival had shows in the Boathouse and at the SummerStage featuring all-Meyer sound systems. Multi-Grammy Award winning producer and composer, Quincy Jones made a rare public performance as host and emcee of the Friday September 4 show at the SummerStage in Central Park. The show featured jazz greats Patti Austin, Joe Williams, the Count Basie Orchestra, Phil Woods, James Moody, Diane Reeve, and dancer Savion Glover. In the Boathouse, George Duke held court with an all night jam session. On August 13-15, Montreux Jazz played three nights at the Tokyo Forum in Japan starring Maynard Ferguson, Phil Perry and George Duke. MSL-6s, MSL-4s and PSW-6s were brought in for the event.
