Barenaked Ladies NorthAmerican Tour
Photos by Jennifer Jeffery Kicking off their North American tour on Friday, July 25, The Barenaked Ladies performed for a sizable crowd at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto. The popular pop/rock group is best known for their tracks "It's All Been Done," "Brian Wilson," and "Alcohol." With a list of more than 30 dates on the tour schedule, the band attracted hundreds-of-thousands of fans from Toronto to Dallas and closed their Barenaked Summer's Night Tour in Clarkston, Michigan on Sunday, September 5. Providing the Meyer Sound equipment for the popular North American tour was Westsun/Jason Sound out of Toronto who recently augmented their system with the purchase of 6 MSL-6s, 12 MSL-4s and 12 DS-4Ps from Meyer Sound's Canadian Distributor, Gerr Audio of Ontario. Additional equipment provided by Westsun/Jason Sound included a host of MSL-2s and 8 of the award winning PSW-6 cardioid subwoofers. "When selecting the equipment, the FOH engineer, Robin Billinton, was always a Meyer fan and decided that he wanted a state-of-the-art system," said Dean Roney, production manager for Westsun/Jason Sound. Don Barber of Westsun/Jason Sound added that the company had to put the system together in a very short period of time, without compromising quality in any way. By using Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeaker systems Barber said they were able to save a substantial amount of time by eliminating the need to build up processors, racks and excessive cabling. Barber also mentioned that Meyer Sound's reputation for consistency and predictability aided greatly in the final purchasing decision. "The perception in the industry is that Meyer Sound equipment is good stuff," said Barber. "You don't have to convince people of the high quality sound, it's understood. So when we went with the system, we had a fundamental faith that it was going to do what it was designed to do. There was also a large comfort factor working with both Meyer and Gerr."
