A Meyer Sound distributor since 1994, Integrated Audio Visual has literally come to depend on company's products for projects, as Tiew says, where quality is placed ahead of price. "We don't have to worry about performance with Meyer systems. Performance and reliability of the Meyer product are assured."

Managing Director
Integrated Audio Visual

In the recently contracting Asian economic markets, the success of Integrated Audio Visual in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital and largest city, is all the more remarkable.

Formed four years ago, Integrated Audio Visual began as a PA, MATV, CATV installation company, but rapidly moved to become a firm for professional, integrated systems: sound reinforcement, stage lighting and stage curtain, video projection, and conference systems. Today, the company has 16 permanent designers and engineers on staff, and partners on a regular basis with sound contractors for rigging and conduit wiring of their installations.

"Our goal is to serve the upper end of the market for integrated systems," says Integrated Audio Visual's managing director, L.H. Tiew. "80% of our projects now involve the design and installation of integrated systems with varying degrees of computer control. Contracting for delivery of such turnkey systems," Tiew says, "is preferred in the Malaysian market."

A Meyer Sound distributor since 1994, Integrated Audio Visual has literally come to depend on company's products for projects, as Tiew says, where, "quality is placed ahead of price." The significance of this statement can only be grasped by those familiar with doing business in the current Asian economies. Tariffs and monetary exchange rates, say Tiew, can drive up customer-cost of a high-end loudspeaker to impractical limits. Quality, in this business environment, is what sells.

"We don't have to worry about performance with Meyer systems," says Tiew. "Performance and reliability of the Meyer product are assured. Very important to us also is the support we receive from the factory in both system design and installing systems."

Integrated Audio Visual is involved currently in at least two high-profile projects where Meyer quality and technical support are essential ingredients: the Putrajaya "Intelligent City" project and Penang Stadium.

Putrajaya is massive undertaking: the construction, from the ground up, of a city that will eventually be home to some 335,000 people, an integrated electronic community where every citizen will have access to all services via a city-wide network dubbed the Putrajaya Net and a smart card. Centered around a 400-hectare artificial lake, and occupying a total of 4,581 hectares, Putrajaya is also planned to be seventy percent natural environment: botanical gardens, waterways, wetlands, and green areas. (A hectare is equal to 2,471 acres.) Malaysia's national petroleum and the Malaysian Government are major share holders in the project. Putrajaya will eventually become the administrative center of the federal government of Malaysia. (See www.pjholds.com.my for more information on Putrajaya.)

"Integrated Audio Visual is currently involved in an number of installations at Putrajaya, including the Prime Minister's office, residence, and a Mosque, says Tiew. "Each uses Meyer loudspeakers, and involves Crest NexSys audio control, Crestron control, Extron Switching, and Barco projectors."

Penang Stadium, a 40,000-seat outdoor venue, has an all-Meyer center cluster system similar in design to the Tampa Bay Stadium system (by Dallas-based sound consultants, WJHW). "The design of the stadium did not allow us to use a distributed system," says Tiew. "It has no over-hanging roof to suspend loudspeakers from, so the consultant came up with a single-point source system design." The stadium sound system is centered around a Meyer Remote Monitoring System. Also known as the Batu Kawan Stadium, this venue will be the site of the next Malaysian Games in the year 2000.

Even in a difficult economy, Integrated Audio Visual have managed to keep very busy with exactly the sort of quality projects the company want. The quality of the Meyer product has proved an excellent match for a company with high-end goals and achievements.
