JVC Jazz Festival

Presented over 14 days in the second half of June, the JVC Jazz Festival packed over 55,000 individuals into a vast array of events in venues throughout New York City, including: Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, the Beacon Theater, Bryant Park, The Sylvia & Danny Kaye Playhouse, as well as jazz clubs, schools, and parks.

Festival concerts held in Carnegie Hall and the Beacon Theater featured Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeaker systems. Both systems were supplied by Manhattan-based Andrews Audio Consultants.

How were the systems received? "I heard nothing but very positive comments," said principle, David Andrews, "from both people who attended the shows and from the clients."

Carnegie Hall (7th Ave at W. 57th St.) is perhaps the most famous concert hall in America, and a New York landmark. The 2,849-seat Beacon Theater (Broadway at 74th St.), which opened in 1928, was originally a Vaudeville hall. With the advent of talkies, it became a movie palace, and is now a nationally registered art-deco landmark.
