On Wednesday, November 17, the Loews Theatres held the grand opening of their 42nd Street & 8th Avenue location that utilized a complete Meyer Sound system provided by Andrews Audio Consultants of New York City.

The afternoon event attracted 1,000 attendees, including eight camera crews from a host of TV stations. Also taking part in the afternoon festivities were Governor Pataki of the State of New York, a representative from the Mayor's office and the president of the Loews Corporation.

The system was comprised of 6 MSL-4's for the left and right mains, as well as 2 UM-1P's for front fill. Also included in the system design were a series of 16 UPM-1P's that were used to cover 120 feet of sidewalk in front of the new Theatres.

According to David Andrews of Andrews Audio Consultants, the sound system that was installed provided complete coverage of the audience and the performance areas, with an end result that left the client feeling 'ecstatic.'

Andrews also mentioned that performing at the opening celebration were 60 Rockettes as well as several members of a current Broadway production.
