1. Singapore According to Quebec Leisure International Pte. Ltd. The Long Bar, located in the Raffles Hotel on Beach Road, recently finished installing a complete Meyer Sound system. Included in the pro-audio configuration are a host of self-powered UPA-1P's, 650-P's, LD-1A's and CP-10 parametric equalizers. "The Meyer Sound system had to compete against several companies to secure the installation," said Rabi Silas of Quebec Leisure International. The hotel club, which fills up nightly with crowds of Jazz fans from throughout the region, is frequently host to international Jazz musicians that continue to support the club's reputation as the premiere Jazz venue in Singapore. 2. According to Jolly ProAudio Broadcast Engineering Co. 25,000 fans gathered to see Cantonese and Mandarin Pop sensation, Faye Wang, on Saturday, October 9 at the Zhuhai Stadium. Wang, who has produced such albums as Singing Tour (Chang You) is also well known for her role in the 1998 film "Chungking Express." Comprising the Meyer Sound system at the Stadium were a host of 33 MSL-3's on either side of the stage with 40 groundstacked 650's. An additional 16 USM-1 loudspeakers were utilized for stage monitoring, as well as 2 MSL-10A's. 3. Quebec Entertainment Pte. Ltd. recently completed a host of nightclub installations in Singapore utilizing Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeaker systems. The list included such notable venues as Shooters Pub & Disco, Jams 2000, Crazy Horse and Club Street. According to Rabi Silas of Quebec Entertainment Pte. Ltd., Shooters Pub & Disco, a popular nightclub in Clarke Quay, decided to install the new Meyer Sound system based on the premium sound clarity and efficiency of the self-powered loudspeaker systems. "The client was very happy to hear that the Meyer Sound system required only half the amount of self-powered loudspeakers to get the job done," said Silas. Included in the Shooters Pub & Disco system configuration are 2 MSL-4's, 2 UPA-2P's, 4 650-P's and 1 LD-1A line driver. For Jams 2000, also located in Clarke Quay, the decision to select a Meyer Sound system was confirmed in 45 minutes. "Winzel, a very well known artist in Singapore had used Meyer systems in the past with great success, said Silas. When it came to selecting a system for the club, it was simple, he listened to the self-powered loudspeaker system and chose Meyer." Jams 2000 system configuration included a host of 2 MSL-4's, 2 650-P's and 1 LD-1A line driver. Other Meyer Sound systems installed in Singapore during June and July of 1999 included: Crazy Horse who installed 2 UPA-1P's and 2 USW-1P's, and Club Street who installed 2 UPA-1P's, 2 USW-1P's and 1 CP-10 parametric equalizer. 4. Acoustic Technical Laboratory, Inc. announced that they recently supplied a Meyer Self-Powered Loudspeaker System for use in the theatrical performance of "The Lion King" in Tokyo, Japan. The popular production, run by the theatrical company, Shiki, incorporates 5-CQ-1s for the center cluster, 5-650-Ps and 3-USW-1Ps for mainfill, and 4-UPM-1s for under balcony fill. Undertaking the installation in the 1,255-seat, three-story Spring Theater at "Shiki Gekijo" was the sound crew of Shiki. Since April, '99 "The Lion King" has also been showing simultaneously in a second theater of Shiki's in Osaka. Click here for a view of the equipment. 5. Shenzhen Window of the World The popular tourist attraction, located within a 480,000 square-meter theme park, features natural landscapes, folklore and social customs.
