Gianni Morandi is one of Italy's longest-lasting pop phenomena, having been a top name since the sixties. His pulling power was recently confirmed by a mini-series of prime time RAI TV music shows hosted by the artist: all chalked up over 9 million viewers and one exceeded 10 million. Guests included Whitney Houston, Eros Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini (Italy's top pop exports). Staged in Cinecittà's Studio 15, the show featured an impressive all-white set designed by Gaetano Castelli (also Lighting Designer). The sound rental company was Agorà of L'Aquila, who called in Daniele Tramontani as system designer, head of audio installation and SIM op for in-theater sound. Daniele explains "I chose Meyer enclosures partly because I've worked a lot with them and find them very precise; plus the fact that the artist has used Meyer on tour and on TV and always been happy with the results.

Grisby Music Hosts Meyer Seminar in March Event Kicks off with Open House Party on 22nd
During the week of March 22, Meyer Sound's exclusive distributor, Grisby Music of Ancona, Italy hosted a week-long seminar based on the Meyer Sound Design Reference handbook that has been translated into Italian. Course content covered various topics related to sound reinforcement including polarity vs. phase, coverage vs. beamwidth, minimizing interaction between speakers and advanced sound system design theory. The course was held at the beautiful Centro Europeo di Toscolano near Perugia, and was taught by seasoned educator, Mauricio Ramirez of Meyer Sound Mexico. On Monday, March 22 Grisby simultaneously hosted an open house for all their customers. The event included display of pro audio equipment from Focusrite, Alen & Heath, Otari and other manufacturers. Meyer Sound presented the brand-new DS-4P Self-Powered Loudspeaker System and the new easy-to-use L Track rigging system, along with a demonstration of the UPA-1P and CQ-1 systems.

According to Werner Audio of Berlin, the Friedrichstadtpalast-Revue decided to upgrade their existing Meyer Sound system with 4 DS-2Ps, 2 650-Ps and 2 LD-1As to supply the required low and mid-bass levels for their new "Elements" show. The new Meyer Sound audio components will be integrated into the re-design of the stage set.

Balance Audio of Köln supplied the audio for the October grand opening of the Potsdamer Platz Center in the heart of Germany's capital. Delivering the music to the audience who gathered in the center and surrounding avenues were two systems consisting of 8 Meyer Sound MSL-4s, 4 DS-2Ps, 4 650-Ps and 2 CQ-1s.
In addition to these two systems was a center cluster with 2 CQ-1s, 4 UPA-1Ps and 8 UPM-1s as nearfill.
Also integrated into the sound design were seven giant scissor lifts extending 60 feet into the air. Every lift was equipped with 6 UPA-2Ps and 2 MSL-4s. Five nearby scaffold towers were equipped with 2 MSL-3s, 1 DS-2 and 2 650-Ps, which were used as delay towers or for special effects.
