ShenZhen SanJiu Discotheque

"The client really loves the DS-2's. It is exactly what they wanted for the disco sound. There is quite a bit of low-frequency energy, and the high-frequency is very clear and comfortable."

- Andy Leung, Vice President of Jolly ProAudio Broadcast Engineering Co.

ShenZhen SanJiu (Space Moonlight City), a discotheque located in Shenzhen, China, recently completed installing a Meyer Sound system in its sizable 4,600 square-meter (49,680 square feet) facility. The discotheque, which houses a dance floor encompassing 250 square-meters (2,700 square feet), is powered by a pro-audio system comprised of 12 UPA-1C's, 4 M-1A's, 6 DS-2's, 2 USW-1's, 2 650-R2's and 2 B2-EX processors.

In charge of installing and designing the pro-audio system for the discotheque was Artco Stage Equipment Co. Ltd., who purchased the system from Jolly ProAudio Broadcast Engineering Co., Meyer Sound's dealer in Hong Kong.

"The client really loves the DS-2's," said Andy Leung, Vice President of Jolly ProAudio Broadcast Engineering Co. "It is exactly what they wanted for the disco sound. There is quite a bit of low-frequency energy, and the high-frequency is very clear and comfortable."

Leung added that the only notable acoustical challenge in the new discotheque was its high ceilings, measuring approximately 15 meters (16.5 feet). However, he said that this feature posed no problem for the clarity and coverage of the Meyer Sound system. "Meyer Sound's DS-2's provided the right punch for the disco lover, while the UPA-1C's produced the clarity in the high-frequency," he said.
