Van Morrison's Back on Top European Tour

Autograph Sales Ltd., UK distributor for Meyer Sound, recently announced the purchase of a complete touring sound system, comprised of 38 Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeaker systems, by Exile Productions. The new pro-audio system, out with Van Morrison for the duration of his Back on Top European Tour, was supplied through Big Ear Audio, with the initial research and product sourcing handled through International Show Equipment (ISE).

Utilizing the new Meyer Sound loudspeakers for both front-of-house and stage monitoring, the system is designed around 16 MSL-4 full-range self-powered loudspeakers and 6 650-P sub-bass systems, with monitoring addressed by a host of 8 UM-1P's and 6 UPA-1P compact full-range systems. Autograph also supplied 2 USW-1P sub-bass units, and 4 of Meyer Sound's MSL-2A's which will be used for stage side fills.

"Our company had previously hired very similar rigs, so we had prior experience of the Meyer self-powered boxes," said Dave Conroy of Exile Productions. "We liked the clean sound, and the lack of amp racks, and decided that was the route we wanted to take for our own system. The self-powered speakers make installation so much simpler and setups are correspondingly faster - we're very pleased with the results. The FOH system is performing just as well as we'd hoped, with the stage monitors also coming in for particular praise.

Designing the line system was Exile's Dave Conroy, with the specification aimed at covering all installation eventualities. FOH engineer for the Van Morrison tour is Enda Walsh, with Damian Hughes as monitor mixer, and an eight-piece band line-up: bass, drums, guitar, a Hammond organ, a piano, and a three-piece brass section.
