MONTREUX, SWITZERLAND (July 20, 2000) - To say that the successful installation of more than 300 self-powered loudspeaker systems in a series of more than 20 venues over the course of a week is a small task is quite the understatement. However, the technical crew at the 34th Montreux Jazz Festival managed to complete the system installations in record time thanks to the assistance of Meyer Sound's new easy-to-use QuickFly rigging system, which offers an exclusive range of accessories that allow Meyer Sound loudspeaker systems to be easily flown singly or as part of complex arrays.

Also contributing to this year's festival is Meyer Sound's continued dedication to pro-audio precision and its reputation for quality sound reinforcement, which is evident in the performances that take place daily at the 20-plus venues that comprise the festival. Every artist is supplied with ample time for setup and a soundcheck before performing live. Other considerations taken into account during festival performances are the subtle changes that take place in a room during the progress of a concert, which through Meyer Sound's SIM System II can be reviewed on-the-fly and adjustments made accordingly.

"The guest engineers have been very happy with the way the system has sounded," said Pablo Espinosa, sound engineer for Miles Davis Hall and director of customer service for Meyer Sound. They are impressed with the coverage in the room, so no matter where you are in the room basically you'll have the same coverage, the same SPL, the same frequency response. They don't have to worry that at the mixing desk is one thing and what the audience is hearing is another. So, they can mix knowing that what they're hearing, the audience will be hearing."

Michael Briggs, FOH mixer for Al Jarreau, commented on how nice the Montreux Jazz Festival experience was for him. "I had no problems whatsoever. We came in with two hours to be prepared for soundcheck and I didn't have to tweak anything. If you look at the graphic, very little was done."

Another Meyer Sound innovation reshaping the success of the festival this year is the VEAM connector option, which allows stage technicians to speed up change-overs between acts. The VEAM option offers the unique advantage of simplifying setup and installation since AC power, audio signal and RMS connections are integrated into one multiconductor cable with a single locking connector.
