LYON, FRANCE (February 19, 2000) - The acclaimed, a ragamuffin band, will soon be on tour in Europe to perform for thousands of high-school and college-aged fans who will gather to see one of the numerous World Youth Day Festival concerts held throughout France and Italy. With tour dates scheduled for such renowned venues as the Notre Dame Cathedral and the European Council building, the group is expected to attract 10,000 to 15,000 attendees per event. Providing the Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeaker system for the length of the band's tour will be Blackhawk Audio, Inc., of Tennessee, which will provide a host of MSL-4s, DS-4Ps and 650-Ps for the performances. The festival, a prelude to the August 19th World Youth Day celebration held on the outskirts of Rome in Tor Vergata, is expected to attract more than 2 million youth from around the globe and will be located in a series of five stadiums at the Universita Degli Studi Roma. "It's exciting that Rick Elias' song, "Make Me an Instrument," was chosen as the theme song for the festival," said Chuck Nelson, vice president of creative and artist development for Word Entertainment. "Together, it blends two prayers; the prayer of St. Francis, and the prayer of St. Patrick's Breastplate. The song has so much to say, it's nice to know that others will have an opportunity to embrace it and use it." With a dozen concerts, including the larger festival concerts scheduled in Rome's piazzas, the tour will reach hundreds-of-thousands of youth throughout Europe. "The festival concerts in Rome on August 16th and 17th will attract 75,000 - 100,000 alone, throughout both the afternoon and evening," said Nelson. He also added that Rick Elias' festival theme song, along with a host of other artists' tracks, will be available on the 2000 World Youth Day album, due out late Spring on Myrrh Records. Scheduled Concert Dates: February, 2000 |
