The SIM system is a great measuring tool that allows us to properly align and equalize the system for optimal performance and make it sound very even and consistent across the Hall. Capable of measuring the response, regardless of the source [Source Independent Measurement], you can do very fine adjustments during the performance to compensate for changes in the room due to temperature, humidity and the presence of the audience itself. This gives the sound a great deal of consistency. Several guest mixing engineers noticed how consistent the system was, from an empty room during sound check to a full room during a performance. This is my fifth year with team Meyer at Montreux and I'll have to say each year gets a bit smoother on a technical level. This year the load-in was precise and efficient and the visiting production teams were very complimentary of the system performance. Certainly the biggest and best change in Auditorium Stravinski this Festival was the introduction of the M3D and the M3D Subwoofer into the hall. Rigging and system set-up was a breeze compared to years past. The look of the cluster was clean and compact and the footprint of the subs was smaller. The sound was huge though! Read More » |

M3D will Celebrate South Africa in London's Trafalger Sq. Lyon Light Rail: The City of Lyon, France, recently commissioned San Francisco sound artist Bill Fontana to provide a distinctively Lyonais sound sculpture for the listening pleasure of city commuters on its new light rail system. Fontana asked Meyer Sound to help with the system design, which had to overcome the difficulties presented by the reproduction of the unique source material above the occasionally high, ambient noise levels and the constrictions of loudspeaker size and placement. Meyer engineers developed a completely new loudspeaker system, the MM-4, specifically to suit these requirements. The MM-4 is a 4" cube within which is mounted a 3.5" custom-designed cone driver and necessary control electronics. The entire system covers 18 stations throughout the Lyon area, through which Fontana's pastiche of live city sounds and hard-disk-stored, "sound memories" flow. The complete system was supplied by Meyer Sound distributors, Best Audio of Tremblay en France. Read More » |

Lagos, Nigeria Crusade: Christ for all Nations (CfaN) recently purchased (via Meyer Sound dealer Wigwam Acoustics, Heywood, Lancashire, UK) a quantity of self-powered MSL-4s and UPA-1Ps to augment their much traveled conventionally powered MSL-3s and UPA-1s. One of the first outings for the new system required sound to be projected over 75 acres to 1.6 million people on CfaN's Lagos, Nigeria, crusade stop. Loudspeakers were flown from custom-built towers, and supported a large onstage band, an African drum orchestra, choirs as large as 5,000 members and a variety of spoken-word presentations. Meyer Sound systems were chosen again largely for exceptional speech-intelligibility and long-throw capabilities; but also for their minimal pack-size, low-maintenance and long-life durability in adverse environmental conditions.
