Nürburg, Germany, May 31, 2001 – Rock am Ring, by far the largest music festival in Europe, opens with a massive Meyer Sound PA system provided by Rocksound Network of Hannover. Held annually at the Nürburgring, an old racetrack, the three-day festival draws some 100,000 fans to hear more than a hundred acts on three stages. This year's headliners are Limp Bizkit, Radiohead, A-Ha and Alanis Morissette. The center stage sound system comprises forty-eight MSL-4s, twenty-four DS-2P Mid-Bass and forty 650-P Subwoofers, with twelve UPA-2Ps for frontfill. Two delay towers at sixty meters distance each comprise four SB-1 Sound Beams, eight MSL-4s, four DS-4Ps and four 650-Ps. A second pair of delay towers at one hundred twenty meters each comprise two MSL-6s, two DS-2Ps and four 650-Ps. The Alterna Stage features the new Meyer 3D (M3D) Line Array Loudspeaker, with twelve units per side augmented by a total of twenty-four 650-R2 Subwoofers. Frontfill is provided by eight MSL-4s and six UPA-2Ps. Each stage utilizes multiple CP-10 Parametric Equalizers for system alignment and a SIM System II Multi-Channel measurement system. RMS Remote Monitoring Systems will provide real-time monitoring of all system functions for the duration of the shows. Simultaneous with Rock am Ring is Rock im Park, a companion event held at Parkstadion Nürnberg, a soccer stadium in Nürnberg, Germany. Rock im Park's center stage employs all-Meyer PA's similar to the main system at Rock am Ring, and acts playing Saturday at Rock am Ring appear Sunday at Rock im Park. June, 2001 |
