Since Meyer Sound's Guangzhou, P.R. China-based distributor Leifull Enterprises was established in the early 90s as a supplier of sound and lighting equipment, it has prided itself on having progressed through the closely held principles of exploration, practice and dedication.

"Our advantage is that not only do we possess professional talents and top-ranking installation skills, we also take care to maintain cooperation and integrity among departments and branches," says Dave Zhou, general manager and founder of Leifull Enterprises, which distributes Meyer Sound products throughout China, Hong Kong and Macau. "At Leifull, we have become accustomed to doing a good job at every stage of the proceedings." Leifull Enterprises took on Meyer Sound in August 2000, and vice general manager James Dai is responsible for all sales and marketing of the products. "We believe Meyer Sound is the leading loudspeaker brand, and is especially well respected for its self-powered systems," says Zhou. "Our goal is to make the Meyer brand as well-known here as it is elsewhere in the world."

Zhou had been familiar with Meyer products for some time before he made initial contact with the manufacturer. "Before we sent our first letter to Meyer, we carefully studied its market in Hong Kong and China for more than a year," he says. "What we noticed was that Meyer's name was put forward when bidding for a number of tenders, but seldom won. We felt that this was a shame because of the outstanding quality of its products, and saw that the reason it was losing was mostly because nobody was promoting the brand strongly enough. We realized then that Meyer deserved to have far more market share, so we contacted them."

Always mindful of the tenets, "superior quality, advanced techniques and excellent service," Leifull Enterprises' audio department is engaged in the wholesale, design and installation of sound systems, covering theatre, touring, TV, large events, entertainment centers, nightclubs and international conference centers. It is the sole distributor for a number of other leading brands across China, Hong Kong and Maucau, and has many years experience in serving the Chinese market.

The company attributes its success to its staff, an advanced technical facility and the level of after sales service and support it provides.

"We understand that our staff give us the momentum to develop," says Zhou. "Therefore we are always careful when it comes to choosing and training new staff. Everyone can fulfill their potential here. We understand that we should keep up with the fast pace of modern society in order to survive and to succeed. So, we pay close attention to the latest developments in audio technology, and hold regular seminars on carefully-chosen topics to ensure we remain at the forefront of our profession."

Leifull Enterprises works closely with their clients, tailoring each system to the exact requirements of the job. When it comes to service, they to surpass customers' expectations. "When we promote our brands, we attach much importance to the service we provide," says Zhou. "This includes strong technical support and a guarantee of high quality sales service. We are client-oriented, and endeavor to provide excellent service for our customers."

In addition to engineering and service departments, Leifull Enterprises has established a professional after-sales department. "We welcome our customers' comments on the services we provide," says Zhou. "Our qualified team makes sure our promises will be kept."

The company is also active on the marketing front, providing printed material translated into Chinese including a catalogue of Meyer Sound's entire range, plus a separate brochure for the M3D Line Array system, a CD-R with instructions for the optimization of Meyer Sound systems together with a PowerPoint company overview with product introductions and sample installations. Leifull also advertises and places editorial in Chinese pro audio magazines including Red Panel and participates at pro audio exhibitions including CALM and BIRTV, both in Beijing.

The Leifull Group comprises of Leifull Enterprises (Hong Kong), Leifull Entertainment Consultation (Guangzhou), Leifull Beijing, Meiya Acoustics Technology (Guangzhou), Guangzhou Performance Arts and Shanghai Huali Light & Sound Technology.

Leifull Enterprises has used Meyer Sound systems for a wide range of applications throughout the region. Last summer the Three Tenors performed in Beijing's Forbidden City, the first foreign-organized event to take place there. A temporary stage was erected in front of the entrance to the Emperors' Palace with a stage area encompassing 300m from front to back. A Meyer Sound M3D Line Array loudspeaker system was used to provide sound reinforcement for the assembled crowd of 30,000, together with CP-10 Complementary Phase Parametric Equalizers and LD-1A Line Drivers.

The system was designed by Alexander Yuill-Thornton II (Thorny) - the first time he'd ever worked with the M3Ds. "There was an openness and ease of listening that I have not experienced on a scale like this," he said after the show. "The other plus is that they have the same general character as other Meyer Sound loudspeakers, so mixing them is easy." Thorny was backed up with technical support from Meyer's consultant engineer Dave Dennison and Asian technical support Eddy Vermeersch. Overseeing all technical aspects of the event was Chinese broadcaster CCTV (China Central Television) which aired the show live to more than three billion people worldwide.

Another M3D system was used in October for the Sanya New Silk Road model competition in Hainan, south China, with Meiya Acoustics handling the PA. A total of twelve M3Ds were used for this event, with four MSL-4 Horn-Loaded Long-Throw loudspeakers, six UPA-2P Compact Narrow Coverage loudspeakers, six CP-10s and two LD-1As. The competition had attracted the participation of 80,000 potential models nationwide, with 51 women and 30 men participating in the final event.

A system of twenty-four M3Ds was also called into play for the ninth China National Games at the newly-built 10,000 seat Guangzhou Stadium. The venue's dome shaped ceiling added unwanted reverb, but after spending some time calculating the position and angles of the M3Ds, Leifull was able to substantially reduce this. "The other advantage we had on this show was using the LD-1As," says Zhou. "Because of the requirement of the show, some signal paths had to go around the front-of-house console to the speakers, with one as long as 300 meters. By using the LD-1A we were able to minimze the high-frequency loss."

In February, the 2002 CCTV Spring Festival Show was held at CCTV's largest performance hall. Circular in shape, with a domed ceiling, the hall seats more than 1,000 people. "This show is the most important show in our Spring Festival, watched by more than half of the Chinese population," says Zhou. This system consisted of six M3Ds, six UPM-1P Ultra-Compact Wide Coverage loudspeakers, eight UM-100P Wide Coverage Stage Monitors, two UPA-1P Compact Wide Coverage loudspeakers and two LD-1As. Technical assistance was once more provided by Dennison using the SIM System II FFT Analyzer, with Vermeersch assisting with the system installation.

Leifull is full of confidence regarding the future. "We're aiming to explore the market even further with our clients, building on our strengths," says Zhou. "We are looking forward to a prosperous future."
