Autograph Sales Continues Role as Key Meyer Sound Dealer
Since 1982, Autograph Sales in London has played a pivotal role in bringing both the products and the unique philosophy of Meyer Sound Laboratories to audio professionals throughout the United Kingdom and the European continent. Today that long-standing close relationship continues as the company serves as a flagship dealer for the ever-broadening Meyer Sound product line. Autograph Sales was formed by legendary sound designer Andrew Bruce to be the sales arm of Autograph Sound Recording, the thriving firm Bruce created to apply technology to his innovative West End theater sound designs. It was while consulting with New York designer Abe Jacob on the sound design for Cats that Bruce first encountered Meyer Sound products, in the form of the original UPA- 1. Bruce immediately sensed the product’s possibilities, both for his own work and for other theatrical productions throughout Europe. Meyer Sound products soon played a key role in many other Bruce sound designs, including Miss Saigon and Les Miserables. As the Meyer Sound product line broadened, and then advanced into self-powered systems, Autograph Sales responded by introducing U.K.’s top sound hire companies to the new products, reaching out to such key companies as Capital Sound, Canegreen, Sound Hire and Orbital Sound. Autograph Sales also facilitated the introduction of large-scale, self-powered line arrays into West End musicals, most notably with Bombay Dreams. Autograph Sales now operates under the direction of Graham Paddon, who joined the firm in 1988 and has since progressed to become a director of the company. Speaking of the lengthy and mutually beneficial relationship with the American loudspeaker manufacturer, Paddon says, “It has been a rewarding experience working with Meyer Sound products. The technology inside Meyer loudspeakers sets a benchmark for the industry. Among sound professionals, you find the utmost respect for both the products that emerge from the factory in Berkeley, and the amazing R&D efforts that go into them, as personified by John Meyer.” Since 1983, Autograph Sales and its sister company, Autograph Sound Recording, have operated out of a renovated Victorian warehouse in North London. Autograph Sales also represents many other key audio companies that complement the Meyer Sound line, including Clear-Com, Milab and Aviom. Autograph Sales |
