Pro Audio Systems Brings Meyer Sound to England’s North
The northern counties of England now have easier access to the latest in self-powered loudspeaker technology with the appointment of Pro Audio Systems of Bradford, West Yorkshire as an authorized Meyer Sound dealer. Like many other members of the Meyer Sound family worldwide, Pro Audio Systems provides sound hire services in addition to their dealership. Although the company used Meyer Sound products for only a year before assuming a dealership, the commitment to Meyer Sound has proven substantial –and beneficial. “Initially we simply bought a few of the UPJs for our corporate work,” says co-founder and director Paul Siddall, “but we were sufficiently impressed to expand our commitment to Meyer into the large event and touring systems as well.” In addition to the complement of UPJ-1P compact VariO™ loudspeakers, Pro Audio Systems’ inventory now includes 20 MILO high-power curvilinear array loudspeakers (including two of the new MILO 120 expanded coverage systems), 12 of the new 700-HP ultra-high-power subwoofers. Other Meyer Sound inventory includes MSL-4, USW-1P, and a SIM® 3 audio analyzer. The major commitment to a large-scale MILO system was the result of a trip by Siddall and fellow directors Brian Lumb and Andy Turner to Berkeley, California for a tour of the Meyer Sound factory and research labs. “Once we got to know the people involved, we were very impressed with their philosophy and attitude,” remarks Siddall. “It extends through the whole process, from selecting wood pulp for the driver cones made in-house right through final quality control. Since purchasing them, we have been blown away by the exceptional sound quality, and the ease of rigging is a big plus, along with the space saved in the warehouse.” On the sound hire side of the business, Siddall says that the new Meyer Sound system already is bringing in new clientele. “Because MILO is spec’d on so many tour riders, we’re getting attention in places where we weren’t looked at before.” On the sales side, initial prospects have been most promising, according to Siddall, with the first training seminars in conjunction with Meyer Sound’s new U.K. office having drawn strong interest. “It’s a process of education,” he concludes. “Brian and I were infused with enthusiasm after our visit to the factory, so it’s a matter of spreading that enthusiasm first to our own people here and then out to clients and customers. We really believe in the product and the company, and we expect that will carry through to others.” Established in 1988, with both Siddall and Lumb as founders, Pro Audio
Systems now has ten full time employees supplemented by a core group of
freelance engineers and technicians. The company’s operations are
concentrated in the north of England, but Pro Audio Systems has provided
event services and tour support throughout England and the European continent. Pro Audio Systems |
