Meyer Sound MICA Wins Mipa Award at Pro Light + Sound
Meyer Sound's MICA compact high-power curvilinear array loudspeaker received a Muskemesse International Press Award (mipa) as the best Large Format PA-System at the recently concluded Frankfurt Musikmesse/Pro Light + Sound exhibition. The award is Meyer Sound's second mipa, having received one in the same category in 2004 for the MILO high-power curvilinear array loudspeaker. Meyer Sound Technical Support Manager John Monitto, who was involved in the development of MICA, accepted the award for the company. "MICA has been our most successful product from the time of its release," says Meyer Sound Director of Marketing Rachel Archibald. "We're honored that it has been recognized with this award, which is voted on by so many of the world's most important industry magazines." The mipas are presented on behalf of more than 80 magazines from around the world that vote on the new products they feel were most significant over the last year. Awards are made in 40 categories covering musical instruments and accessories, live sound, and recording studio products. Released just in time for 2005's summer touring season, MICA was an immediate hit, quickly finding its way into the inventories of numerous key European rental companies like Westphalen Sound, Canegreen,Ltd. and Major Tom Ltd. Major European tours using MICA have included Kanye West, Tracy Chapman, Katie Melua, Rod Stewart, Udo Jürgens, Il Divo, and Little Britain. The Musikmesse/Pro Light + Sound exhibition is one of the world's most important shows for the music and audio trades.
