A recent visit to Meyer Sound's Berkeley, Calif. headquarters was all it took to convince rental company Westfalen Sound Schallwand CEO Carl Cordier to add Meyer Sound equipment to the company's arsenal of sound reinforcement gear. "Touring the factory and meeting with John and Helen Meyer convinced me that Meyer Sound continues to create superior, sophisticated technologies that will enable us to better serve our clients," says Cordier. "Additionally, the company's commitment to customer support is unprecedented." Meyer Sound has deep roots in the German market, so local support to Westfalen will be provided by Meyer Sound Germany and Meyer Sound's Munich-based technical support representative, Thomas Mundorf. Westfalen's new cache of MICA compact high-power curvilinear loudspeakers, CQ-1 wide coverage main loudspeakers, UPA-1P compact wide coverage loudspeakers, and UM-1P narrow coverage stage monitors was put to the test immediately by Austrian singer Udo Jürgens when he kicked off his German tour in Heilbronn on January 20. The tour comprises more than 40 dates at arenas throughout Germany, Switzerland and Austria, concluding March 18 at Kempten, Germany's BigBOX Allgäu. "We are pleased to welcome Carl Cordier and Westfalen Sound into the Meyer Sound family," says executive vice president Helen Meyer, "and we are always excited to have an artist the caliber of Udo Jürgens using our products." Westfalen Sound Schallwand is a division of the POOL Group, a network of event planning and production companies based in Emsdetten, Germany. The POOL Group's clients include corporations such as SAP, German Telekom, DHL, and BMW, and world-class artists like Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Anna Netrebko, Supertramp, Ricky Martin, Diana Ross, Peter Maffay, and Udo Jürgens.
