Meyer Sound and Slovenia's Festival Novo Mesto Share a Passion for Quality

With about 40,000 inhabitants in a country of 2 million, the picturesque Slovenian town of Novo Mesto features a preeminent sound company that is booked for 300 shows a year for artists including José Carreras, Pink and Zucchero. Headed by Marjan Pirnar, rental company Festival Novo Mesto boasts an annual growth rate of about 30 percent and is active throughout Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia.

In 1996, Pirnar started the company when he purchased a sound system for the local Rock Otocec festival. Within a few years, Festival Novo Mesto was already considered the best sound company in Slovenia. However, Pirnar was frustrated with the sound quality of his bulky and labor-intensive equipment, and began searching for something better.

"I needed to find a sound system that could meet my personal standards of quality," says Pirnar, who was attracted by Meyer Sound's high quality products, business approach, education program and technical support. "That's when I decided I wanted to work with Meyer Sound."

Today, Festival Novo Mesto provides rental services as well as complete production support including sound design, lights, staging and logistics. Its inventory includes 26 MILO and 40 M'elodie line array loudspeakers, 30 700-HP subwoofers, along with a wide range of other Meyer Sound self-powered products. "To me, each Meyer speaker is an all-purpose tool," says Pirnar. "We can trust M'elodie to be used as a single cabinet for front fill, side fill, or part of a full system."

Pirnar attributes his company's success to Meyer Sound's worldwide education program and technical support, as the knowledge they acquired has enabled them to provide their customers with high quality sound systems. All of Festival Novo Mesto's full-time employees have been trained in the use of MAPP Online Pro acoustical prediction program, and two have recently completed their training in SIM 3 audio analyzer, which they put to use on a daily basis.

"We no longer create a sound design consisting of more than four mid-high boxes without using MAPP Online Pro," explains Pirnar. "Not only are we certain that we are producing the best sound possible for each event, we always learn something new about sound system design. We are pleased to have these audio tools provided by Meyer Sound."
