On February 13 of this year, Meyer Sound turned 30. This got us reminiscing about the incredible adventures we’ve had and the many talented people we’ve worked with over the years. One such person is Howard Danchik, co-founder (with the late Don Pearson) of Ultra Sound (now Pro Media / UltraSound), mixer for Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna, and a system tech and occasional mixer for the Grateful Dead.

On a recent spring morning, we visited Danchik at his home in Marin County, Calif. Dressed in a navy blue track-suit, sitting in his sunny kitchen eating strawberries from the local farmer’s market, he told us how he first got involved with Meyer Sound in 1979, the same year the company was founded.
