Meyer Sound Complements Peak Experience at Austria's Intersport Bründl

With its new home nestled below Austria's breathtaking 3,200 meter-high Kitzsteinhorn, Intersport Bründl in Kaprun is a "lifestyle sport house." In addition to a vast array of outdoor attire and equipment, visitors will discover an elegant café, relaxing lounge, open fireplace, climbing rock, video game parlor, and 3D cinema. To complete the experience, more than 100 Meyer Sound loudspeakers are installed to provide foreground music that Intersport owner Cristoph Bründl notes as an integral part of the ambience and an effective sales tool. "Music can change the mental state to make buying easier," claims Bründl, "and the high quality of the Meyer Sound system helps relax customers' mood immediately." The exterior of Intersport Bründl mimics its alpine surroundings. The angular four-story structure juts skyward, with its stratified concrete and broad glass surfaces paying architectural homage to the glacier-capped peaks surrounding the village. Kraftwerk Living Technologies of Wels, Austria provided the cutting-edge audio and video systems. Florian Peterstorfer, Kraftwerk's manager for retail and hospitality systems, worked closely with Bründl to support its marketing concept with superlative sound. Kraftwerk had previously installed a Meyer Sound system in another shop in Ischgl. "Based on that experience—as well as demos at Kraftwerk's showrooms—the clients were convinced that only a Meyer Sound solution would provide the quality they required," says Peterstorfer. The main merchandising spaces and adjoining open-air terrace are covered by 86 Meyer Sound MM-4 miniature loudspeakers. Low-end energy comes from eight UMS-1P subwoofers and one USW-1P subwoofer. "The MM-4 is perfect for this application," Peterstorfer notes, "because it provides pure, uniformly balanced sound throughout the building without calling attention to itself." Sound moves very much to the foreground in the lounge, where up-tempo sounds emanate from two UPJ-1P VariO loudspeakers and another USW-1P subwoofer. "It's really like a club atmosphere when you turn up the levels," says Peterstorfer. "Some groups have used it for social events, and every now and then a DJ will plug in for dancing. All of this in a sports shop!" Topping off the total immersion experience, Intersport Bründl features an intimate yet high-tech 3D cinema. Multichannel surround sound is provided by three UPJunior VariO loudspeakers and four MM-4 loudspeakers with solid bass from a UMS-1P subwoofer. "Customers are telling us that the sound here is really cool," adds Bründl. "Like our lifestyle store in Ischgl, you really feel the 'fat' sound of the Meyer system." February, 2009 |
