New Products!
Offering visitors a glimpse into the future of high-speed networked audio technology will be the new D-Mitri digital audio platform, which adopts the emerging AVB audio/video bridging network standard to guarantee a true real-time system. Taking the unrivalled show control capabilities of Meyer Sound's Matrix3 audio show control system to the next step, D-Mitri's Gigabit-based multichannel digital processing and distribution platform combines powerful performance (96 kHz/24-bit conversion with up to 32-bit floating point internal processing) with the enhanced configuration flexibility and user control afforded only within a networked environment. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, Matrix3 was deployed to manage all technical aspects of the performance, including audio, motion control, pyrotechnics, and lighting.

Another highlight at PALM this year will be Meyer Sound's Cinema Experience line of products, which redefine movie sound and provide fully integrated solutions with a smooth translation across sound design, dubbing, and exhibition. Meyer Sound Cinema Experience line of products features:

 • Acheron 80 and 100 screen channel loudspeakers
 • Acheron LF bass loudspeaker
 • HMS-10 cinema surround loudspeaker
 • X-800C high-power cinema subwoofer

Also on display will be Meyer Sound's expanded range of self-powered loudspeakers that will ensure system designers are sufficiently equipped for most design challenges. A variant of the popular MM-4XP self-powered miniature loudspeaker, the new MM-4XPV features a continuous volume control knob at the top of the unit. The companion MM-10 subwoofer offers solid low-frequency support (123 dB peak SPL from 40 Hz to 200 Hz) in a cabinet weighing a mere 33 pounds. Featuring remote DC powering, the UP-4XP loudspeaker packs extraordinary fidelity and power in an ultracompact package.

The 500-HP subwoofer, designed to be rigged directly to the award-winning M'elodie line array loudspeaker in both flown and groundstacked configurations, will also be shown on the booth. The 500-HP houses twin 12-inch cone drivers and 1800 W of peak power amplification. Rounding out the stand's loudspeaker complement will be the UPJunior loudspeaker and a display of MM-4XP miniature loudspeakers in custom colors.

Additionally, PALM visitors can learn about other noteworthy developments at Meyer Sound, highlighted by its recent announcement to release the high-resolution measurement data for its loudspeakers in the GLL (Generic Loudspeaker Library) format. This release will enable users of EASE design and simulation software to model the interaction of Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeaker systems with the acoustics of rooms.
