Hear from two veteran FOH engineers—Bill Winn (Herbie Hancock) and Richard Forte (Nikki Yanofsky)—as they share their experience of mixing on the new JM-1P arrayable loudspeaker system at the Theatre Maisonneuve during the 31th Montreal International Jazz Festival. The 1,458-seat theatre underwent an acoustic transformation for the 12-day annual music event, incorporating four Meyer Sound JM-1P arrayable loudspeakers per side coupled with four 700-HP subwoofers. For Winn, witness to the evolution of the sound systems at Theatre Maisonneuve over the last 15 years, the Meyer Sound system set up for Montreal Jazz exhibited exceptional low-end control that was key to his mix. For Forte, the JM-1P provided under-balcony coverage that was "smooth, linear, and organic"—a first for him at the theatre.
