Featuring saxophonist and clarinetist Sarah Underwood, Constellation transformed Meyer Sound's stand at ProLight + Sound into an immersive listening space with the acoustical characteristics of a concert hall. Large crowds of visitors gathered to experience firsthand how active acoustic technology can recreate acoustical characteristics to deliver a whole new listening experience. Three presets of varying early decay and reverberation times were preprogrammed to mimic different types of performance venues: A small, resonant space with a PA system for small ensembles; a traditional 1,600-seat classical concert hall; and an enormous, reverberant hall with highly reflective wood and concrete surfaces. The Constellation system featured 16 Constellation cardioid microphones, 32 MM-4XPD directional miniature loudspeakers, eight MM-4XP miniature loudspeakers, and six MM-10 subwoofers. A Constellation processor and two VRAS processors served as the backbone of the system. More than 30 Constellation systems are in use around the world, including the Star Wars: In Concert tour, the Nokia Concert Hall at the Solaris Centre in Estonia, and the Laboral University in Gijon, Spain. Hearing is believing; to find out more about where you can listen to Constellation, please contact Meyer Sound at constellation@meyersound.com.
