"Gerhofer managed a high-quality convention and exhibition, despite the adverse acoustical conditions in historical buildings. The use of Meyer Sound products has proven to be the right choice."

The German Computer Games Awards, the country's most important accolade for computer game designers, was held in Munich's historic Haus der Kunst Museum, a neo-classical venue with large rectangular rooms, high ceilings, and highly reflective concrete walls. To ensure utmost clarity in the acoustically challenging venue, Munich-based Gerhofer GmbH employed a range of Meyer Sound self-powered UltraSeries loudspeakers.

"With the Meyer Sound systems, we could target the audience exactly without getting into trouble with the walls," says Klaus Küssel, general manager of Gerhofer GmbH. "The UltraSeries loudspeakers gave us a selection of compact loudspeakers with a very similar acoustic fingerprint. And using the MAPP Online Pro [acoustic prediction program] to simulate the venue, it was easy to set up the loudspeakers without any surprises."

More than 20 Meyer Sound UltraSeries loudspeakers were distributed throughout three rooms in the museum building, including UPQ-1P, UPA-1P, UPM-1P, UPJ-1P VariO, and the miniature MM-4 loudspeakers and USW-1P subwoofers, with control and processing by a Meyer Sound Galileo loudspeaker management system, using two Galileo 616 processors.

"Gerhofer managed a high-quality convention and exhibition, despite the adverse acoustical conditions in historical buildings," says Felix Hauffe, project manager at Medientage München GmbH, Munich Gaming 2011 organizer. "The use of Meyer Sound products has proven to be the right choice."

The German Computer Games Awards 2011 were presented in seven categories by industry associations BIU eV and GAME eV, together with Bernd Neumann, the federal government commissioner for culture and media and state minister. This year's winners include "StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty," "Assassin's Creed," and others.
