Meyer Sound loudspeakers were featured at nine venues at the Centennial Summer Olympic games in Atlanta. Sound Associates of Atlanta provided systems for three venues. For the Bell South Pavilion, a hall used for corporate receptions, Sound Associates provided 20 UPM-2s and a single CQª-1 Self-Powered Loudspeaker. For the Centennial Park GM Amphitheatre, which featured Southern music acts during the day and the GM laser light show at night, Sound Associates provided a small but powerful system made up of eight MTS-4s and four 650-R2s. And for Centennial Park South on Record Stage, Sound Associates provided two CQ-1s and two 650-R2s.
Blackhawk Audio of Nashville provided a sound system for the House of Blues, a club that the House of Blues chain temporarily opened in a renovated Baptist tabernacle next to Centennial Park. The system was made up entirely of Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeakers: 14 MSL-4s, 8 650-Ps, and 4 CQ-2s. Major acts, such as the Blues Brothers, performed nightly at the club. The club also hosted dance parties and raves. Masque Sound of Orlando, Florida, provided two systems for the World Congress Center: a system with 20 MSL-2s for the fencing venue, and a system with 16 MSL-4s for the wrestling and team handball venue.
The sound system at the GM Pavilion was provided by Staging Techniques of Atlanta, with some additional loudspeakers provided by Blackhawk Audio. The system featured 12 UPA-1Cs, 2 MSL-2As, 2 USW-1s, and 2 MSL-4s.
AVA/Stage Sound of Phoenix provided 6 MSL-10s, 6 MSL-4s, 12 650-R2s, and 8 UPA-1Cs for the Coca-Cola Opening Ceremonies Party, which was held at the Six Flags Over George theme park. The sound system was used for the simulcast of the ceremonies and for some live acts, as well.
There were seven SIM System IIs at the OlympicsÐÐa record for the most SIM systems at any event. Two systems were used by Solstice and STG Entertainment, companies that did not use Meyer speakers.
