Profile: Entertainment Design Group Inc.
Entertainment Design Group, Inc. (www.goedg.com) in Austell, Georgia, provides audio/video and lighting production and design services for clients worldwide, specializing in turn-key installations, programs, and events. Since April of this year, EDG has been headed by the collective expertise of Steve Guy (EDG founder) and David Lowell, vice president of sales, who joined Guy after heading Seriously Sound Inc. for many years. "Steve's company was actually a client of ours," says David. "Over the past 10 years or so, EDG has designed and produced some of Atlanta's largest entertainment events, and Seriously Sound supplied audio for quite a few of them, often times Meyer systems, my personal preference." "Steve was anxious to move from renting his sound systems to owning. And this is the direction we moved in as soon as I came over to EDG. In addition, EDG's business was seasonal in nature, centered around major predictable events. Seriously Sound projects tended to be evenly spread out across the calendar. So the thinking behind our merger was that we could distribute the project-load more evenly throughout the year - which is exactly how things have worked out." "Meyer loudspeakers have been a favorite since their self-powered line started to appear," says David. "Shortly after I joined EDG, we were involved in building some huge racks to carry amplifiers and EQ equipment for another rig. Rick Coleman [Meyer Sound Southeastern US Regional Office] called me and said, basically, Why are you doing this? We did a cost and weight comparison, and concluded that we needed to start buying Meyer self-powered gear: MSL-4's, 650-P's, and a complete monitor system." "In addition to the cost/weight factor, the sound quality of the Meyer loudspeakers made the decision to purchase pretty much a no-brainer... When I'm selling, I need to make sure the gear will fit into a truck, and I need to know that it will sound very good." "The Technical Staff at EDG is very pleased with the Meyer equipment partly because it's so adaptable for different applications - from an intimate corporate meeting to a large concert hall - which is very important for us since we have such a wide range of clients."
