Nashville Office

Although often thought of as the center of the country music recording world, Nashville, otherwise known as “Music City,” is equally important as a launch pad for tours of all musical genres, including, of course, country’s biggest stars. The beating heart of Nashville’s touring business is Soundcheck, the country’s largest full-production rehearsal facility. Recognized as the rehearsal venue of choice by many top touring and recording acts, Soundcheck also provides a wide range of support services for touring and studio musicians, both in Nashville and on the road. Where better for a first-rate loudspeaker manufacturer to situate itself to stay close to the needs and realities of its touring customer base?

  • As the year 2004 opened for business, so did Meyer Sound’s Nashville office in the Soundcheck complex. Staffed by Meyer Sound Tour Liaison Buford Jones and Lee Moro, long-time FOH for Norah Jones and now Nashville Operations and Touring Support, the office has become a waystation for engineers, artists and production managers working on the dozens of tours passing through the facility, as well as others in the Nashville area who frequent Soundcheck simply as a hub of live music industry activity.

The office features a Meyer Sound 5.1 surround sound system comprised of HD-1 studio monitors and a USW-1P subwoofer, driven by a DiGiCo D1 Live digital console. An assortment of playback options and formats are available for studio engineers who are encouraged to reference their mixes generated in other studios.

Meyer Sound has outfitted Rehearsal Room A with a touring system consisting of eight MILO line array loudspeakers and four powerful 700-HP subwoofers. Room B features a Meyer Sound system of M’elodie line array loudspeakers, which have been extremely popular in the installation as well as touring markets. Room C showcases ten Meyer Sound MICA line array loudspeakers along with two 600-HP subwoofers, while the smaller Room D houses an M1D line array system. Newer rooms recently added to Soundcheck include Room I, equipped with four hung CQ-2 loudspeakers and two 600-HP subwoofers.

Monitoring options at Soundcheck include Meyer Sound UM-1P and USM-1P stage monitors, as well as the highly acclaimed MJF-212A, which has been used on sold-out tours with artists including Steely Dan, Metallica and Kanye West.

Meyer Sound’s RMS remote monitoring system is also available at Soundcheck. Now, thanks to the powerful real-time monitoring system, engineers can access system status and performance data of the loudspeakers in Soundcheck’s rehearsal rooms while having a chat in the Meyer Sound office.

All rooms are available for rehearsals, demonstrations and seminars. Please feel free to stop by or contact us for more information.

"Everybody knows Hank likes to rock! The MJF-212A exceeds any monitor I've worked with in the past. They are very simple and fast to set up and do not require lots of EQ. Very dependable and full range. A monitor that meets the demands of Hank Williams Jr.!”

    Trey Chamberlin
    Monitor Engineer, Hank Williams Jr.

"OK...I'm an 'in-ear' guy, BUT Meyer's MJF-212 is (without question) my favorite wedge to date, and the one wedge that I will abandon my 'ears' for! Most monitors sling the sound up at you from the floor; the MJF-212 images in such a way that the sound seems to emanate from directly in front of the microphone and comes straight at you. Simply put, it sounds great! It's smooth and even across all the frequencies, and reproduces everything from bass guitar to vocals with remarkable accuracy. There is plenty of power and headroom, but because this wedge sounds so good, and images with such definition we are able to run our stage volume at very modest levels. When I need to put my artist on wedges this is my monitor of choice...without question the Meyer MJF-212 is our favorite!”

    Richard Korby
    Production Manager, Jake Owen

"I loved the Meyer rig in studio rehearsal room C. It sounds clean and clear. Very natural sounding. I’ve always enjoyed working with Meyer equipment. It makes my job easier!"

    Jeff Hawkins
Sound Engineer, Lorrie Morgan and The Whites

"MILOs have become my favorite system with the ease of installation via MAPP.  Smooth, responsive and clean with great punch 16 MILOs, eight M3D subs, and six UPJs worked well in our tent for 12,000 at Bonaroo.  I know its going to be a good event when I have a Meyer Sound PA."

    Robert McTigue
    System Engineer, Muse Productions
Mixer, Peabo Bryson, Izzy Stradlin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ted Nugent and others

"With the range of Meyer products we have here at Soundcheck we can cover anything!  MICA is so natural sounding we have 4 rooms and usually 1 engineer so things can get pretty busy in a hurry, with Meyer products we just throw up the faders and walk out of the room and everyone is happy."

"Meyer Sound has been a welcomed and extremely positive addition to Soundcheck in Nashville, TN.  There has been nothing but praise for the systems in each of the four main rooms.  The Meyer Sound MILO, MICA, CQ2, and M1D systems have all made quite a positive impression on many of the industry's top engineers and production managers each time they have used the systems while rehearsing at Soundcheck.  The superb audio quality and broad frequency response covering the entire dynamic range of each of the systems makes them well suited for most any environment.  Each system offers crystal clear sound and requires very minimal tuning (and sometimes no tuning at all).  They are all ready to go in a matter of seconds.  Soundcheck is very grateful to Meyer Sound for having the opportunity to work with some of the best live audio systems on the market today."

    Jason Green

"When a band or artist pays to rehearse they do not want to waste time fixing or dialing in a mix. Since our partnership with Meyer Sound began I have not had to even think or worry about how our rooms will sound.

The level of professionalism has stepped up immensely.  When an engineer who is “in the know” sees a Meyer CP-10 we end up having a 15 minute conversation about equalization.

Thanks to Meyer Sound we can book any level of touring act and be confident our Meyer Sound systems in each room will handle all audio needs in any situation "

    Jim Whitfield
    Soundcheck Manager

"For production rehearsals it’s vital to me that the mix be as record like as possible on the console for the start of the tour.  The MILO’s accuracy has certainly helped me achieve that goal."

    James Geddes
    Heart-LeAnn Rimes

"The sound was so clear and ‘in my face’ I thought that my close reference monitors were on — but it was all MILO! The sound is amazing! Thanks for letting us use your system."

    Kirk Willie
    FOH Engineer, John Michael Montgomery

"I had the privilege of working with the Meyer Sound UPJ –1P and just have to say that the clarity, drive, and all-around sound are unbelievable. Lightweight, less space, better sound, less cable...the list can go on. Can’t wait to work with Meyer Sound equipment on the upcoming Sam Bush tour! Thanks!"

    Zachary Berry
    FOH Engineer, Sam Bush

"Finally got a chance to use a MILO rig, sounded great! We were in a small theater and the only fly points were up stage of my lead vocal, but I had no problems. It was the best my acoustic set has ever sounded. Thanks for your help!"

    David J. Turner
Tour Manager & FOH Engineer, Patty Loveless Tours, INC

"As FOH engineer for Travis Tritt, I needed a frontfill for the prime seats at our concerts and found it in the Meyer UPJ-1P.  I use these in many different applications, indoor and out.  I found the UPJ’s to be a great box in any situation.  I’m looking for clarity, power and performance; it’s all there!  The UPJ’s are compact, self-powered and easy to setup.  I have them out front every show on the 2004/5 "My Honky Tonk History Tour". I recently used MILO in rehearsal at Nashville’s Soundcheck and absolutely loved it.  I’m looking forward to connecting to this system asap!"

    Jack Knepley
    FOH Engineer, Travis Tritt

"Paper, wood and glue haven't been brought together this beautifully since DaVinci died! Your speakers are beautiful, I hope to do them justice when I have the pleasure of mixing on them."

    Sully (Chris Sullivan)
    FOH Engineer, Joe Nichols

"Thanks for the opportunity to try the MILO system at our Soundcheck rehearsals. Being a long-time user and fan of Meyer Sound loudspeakers, MILO with the 700-HP subwoofer was everything I expected and more! The smooth transient response and exceptional coverage pattern of MILO make my job as a mixer much easier. I think making the MILO speaker system available for rehearsals at Soundcheck is a fantastic idea because it gives artists and mixers an opportunity to experience and experiment with MILO in a private and controlled environment. Thanks, Meyer Sound!"

    Martin Frey
FOH Engineer, Big & Rich and The Warren Brothers

"Thanks for supplying the MILO system for our rehearsals with Pam Tillis at Soundcheck. It sounded simply wonderful — the coolest set of “close-field monitors” ever! I was impressed with how much sound came from such a small package and at the ease of setup. The 700-HP subs were deadly, and the addition of the CP-10 sealed the deal. I am updating my rider immediately!"

    Cory Stone
FOH Engineer, Pam Tillis and Don Williams
