Waikiki Shell's 18-Year-Old UPA a Testament to Meyer Sound System Longevity (Live Performance Venues)

Nestled below the Diamond Head mountain bordering Waikiki Beach, Honolulu's Waikiki Shell is truly an outdoor venue in paradise. In 1991, BAUS Engineering installed eight Meyer Sound UPA-1A loudspeakers here, sitting atop poles night and day as permanent lawn delays. For loudspeakers, this was no 18-year holiday. These UPA-1A loudspeakers have braved some of the most treacherous weather conditions, including the Hurricane Iniki in 1992, and are still performing like the first day they were installed. Later, as night falls, the action will shift to a vast "secondary exhibit area" – also known as the Las Vegas Strip – where at least 18 premier venues and fabulous spectacles employ systems from Meyer Sound, LCS Audio, or both. Meyer Sound's MILO in the Ring at Spain's Plaza de Toros Las Ventas

In the nearly 75 years since "Hortelano" became the first bull to meet his fate in the ring, Madrid's La Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas has become so emblematic of Spain's love of bullfighting that it has been called "the world's most important bullring." This past fall, José Luis Moreno directed his Miramón Mendi production company in executing an ambitious project: transforming Las Ventas into a colossal theatre with seating for 10,000 people for an Antología de la Zarzuela, or "Zarzuela Anthology."
