Tips on Java, Windows, and Macintosh OS X.

Always Update your Java Software with an "Update" rather than a "Beta."

Identify Java Version for Mac OS X
Search for "Java Preferences" using the Spotlight search tool and select "About Java Preferences" and follow the instructions below that relate to your specific version.

Macintosh Users: 10.3.x (Panther)
Recent developments to Java have made it possible to implement features that can only run on Java 2 SE 5.0. This current release of Java runs exclusively on Mac OS 10.4.10. As a result, we are no longer supporting MAPP Online Pro for OS X 10.3.x (Panther).

Macintosh Users: 10.4.10 or later and Java 2 Standard Edition, version 5.0 (32-Bit)
Apple has recently released Java 2 SE 5.0 to succeed Java SE 1.4.2 under Mac OS 10.4.10 and 10.4.11. Java Web Start version 11.7.0 is now the main java applications viewer. To use this version of Java for Mac OS Tiger, you'll need to update your Macintosh using the Software Update application or by downloading the update from: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/javaformacosx104release6.html.
After downloading and installing the update make sure you close all instances of Java Web Start and MAPP Online Pro before proceeding with the following instructions:
Search for the most recent version of "Java Preferences." Under the "General" tab go to the "Java Applet Runtime Settings" Use Version: J2SE 5.0. Under the "Java Application Runtime Settings" drag J2SE 5.0 Above J2SE 1.4.2. Click "Save" and re launch MAPP Pro from the original email sent with your username and password.

Macintosh Users: 10.5.x (Leopard)
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1 adds Java SE 6 version 1.6.0_05 to your Mac. This update does not replace the existing installation of J2SE 5.0 or change the default version of Java. Some Macintosh OS system upgrades may require you to reinstall MAPP Online Pro. If necessary, use the Accounts and Passwords URL to obtain the instructions and launch program link.

Macintosh Users: 10.5.3 or later and Java Standard Edition, version 6.0 (64-bit)
Apple has recently released Java SE 6 to succeed J2SE 5.0 and Java SE 1.4.2 under Mac OS 10.5.3 for 64-bit Apple computers and Java Web Start 12.1.0 is now the main java applications viewer.
To use this version for Mac OS Leopard, you'll need to update your Macintosh using the Software Update application or by downloading the update from: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/javaformacosx105update1.html.
After downloading and installing the update make sure you close all instances of Java Web Start and MAPP Online Pro before proceeding with the following instructions:
Search for the most recent version of "Java Preferences." Under the "General" tab go to the "Java Applet Runtime Settings" Use Version: J2SE 5.0 for 32-bit and Java SE 6 for 64-bit. Under the "Java Application Runtime Settings" drag J2SE 5.0 or Java SE 6 to the top of the list. Click "Save" and re launch MAPP Pro from the original email sent with your username and password.

Creating a desktop application for a Java Cache Web Start application: Mac OS X
After you have used a Java Web Start application a couple of times, you may want to create a desktop application for it. Creating a desktop application allows you to open the application directly rather than opening Java Cache Viewer first.
Select the application in the Java Cache Viewer list.
Choose Applications > Create Desktop Application.
Enter a name for the application and choose where is should be saved.

Macintosh Users: 10.5.3 (Leopard) using Java 2 Standard Edition, version 5.0

OTHER ISSUES:

Please use "Save Project As" and create new names when saving projects created by previous versions of MAPP Pro.

If you are having difficulties with Zip files created in previous versions, extract the xml and dxf files so that they are separated, open the xml in MAPP Pro, re-import the dxf and re-save your project as a zip file using a different name. REMEMBER: Zip files are not overwritten, they are updated. We recommend that zip files which show errors andwere created with previous versions of MAPP Pro should be deleted after the project has been repaired.

PC Browsers: Project and Loudspeaker System Reports are best viewed and printed using the Mozilla Firefox Browser.

Mac Dialog Boxes: To Import Graphics and Save New Projects, you will need to manually resize the dialog box to see the your directory as well as the OK & CANCEL buttons.
