Program FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

How do I use the VX-1 Program Equalizer?
The VX-1 is listed under the "Tools" menu in the Virtual SIM window, and is only available when viewing the Frequency Response. You can also get to it by right clicking on the Frequency Response panel. This is explained in greater detail in the Acoustical Information help page.

How do I know if I have the latest version of MAPPOnline?
To see what version of MAPPOnline is on your computer, click on "Help | About MAPPOnline". To see what the most current version of MAPPOnline is, go to the MAPPOnline instructions webpage: http://www.meyersound.com/products/software/mapponline/tech_index.htm

Why does the Loudspeaker Array dialog box not remember the relative angle I entered?
This is a a bug in Java's implementation of the table widget. The table doesn't store the value you enter in a cell until it knows you're done editing it. It only knows you're done editing it when you switch to edit something else. Thus the last value you enter isn't stored. To work around this we put a button labeled "Apply Table Values" just under the table. If you press that everytime before you press close, then it all of the values you enter will always be stored. This bug is fixed in Java 1.4, and we'll be switching to it as soon as it is available for the Macintosh.

Why do I get the error "IP Address forbidden" when I try to go to the webpage to install MAPPOnline
The complete web address of the MAPPOnline server is:
http://mapponline.msli.com:1030/
It is required that you type the "http://" at the begining, and the ":1030/" at the end.

What should I do if I get a "Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access" error when trying to start MAPPOnline?
    "Unable to launch Mapp Online:
    Details:
An error occurred while launching/running the application.
    Title: MAPPOnline(tm)
    Vendor: Meyer Sound Laboratories Inc.
    Category: Security Error
Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to system."

This is caused by a bug in JavaWebStart. Set the Windows Locale to anything other than Turkey.

What should I do if I get a "Bad MIME type error" when trying to start MAPPOnline?
"An error occurred while launching/running the application.
    Title: MAPPOnlineā„¢
    Vendor: Meyer Sound Laboratories Inc.
    Category: Download Error
Bad MIME type returned from server when accessing resource:
    http://mapponline.msli.com:1030/MAPPOnline.jnlp - text/html"

The bad mime-type error is usually caused by a proxy conflict. Try starting Java Web Start, selecting Preferences | General, and set proxy to "none". If this doesn't work tell your network administrator that you are trying to run a Java program and it is having a problem with your proxy server. The Java program has the extension jnlp and the mime type is application/x-java-jnlp-file. Also make sure any personal fire wall software is turned off.

What should I do if I get a "Unable to load resource" error when trying to start MAPPOnline?
"An error occurred while launching/running the application.
    Title: MAPPOnline(tm)
    Vendor: Meyer Sound Laboratories Inc.
    Category: Download Error
    Unable to load resource:
    http://mapponline.msli.com:1030/MAPPOnline.jnlp"

Turn off any personal fire wall software or ask your administrator if their firewall will pass through Java programs with the extension jnlp and mime-type application/x-java-jnlp-file.
