Galileo System Release Notes
Version Release 2.2.0 - May 20, 2009 - Firmware Code Date: April 27, 2009
Compass Control Software
Compass Preferences
Additional settings available for the user interface. The overall organization of the Compass tab has changed with the addition of new features. Additional tabs have been added under the Compass tab to change the behavior of Galileo controls, startup, shutdown, and confirmation, snapshot recall, select, isolate and linking, as well as Galileo global linking.
Startup, Shutdown and Confirmation
Additional preferences available for application startup, shutdown and confirmation.
Snapshot Recall Preferences
These are used for including or excluding Input Channel Types, Input/Output Voltage Ranges, Input and Output Mutes. There is also a setting that determines whether or not the active snapshot should be updated before the new one is recalled.
Select, Isolate and Linking Preferences
Channel settings can be linked together so that the modification of one setting on one channel affects the same setting on linked channels. Channel linking is primarly done using Select buttons and, depending on the linking preferences outlined below, Link Groups. Isolate buttons will temporarily remove a channel from linking.
Primary and Secondary Windows
The Galileos tab has additional controls for adding Galileos to either the primary or secondary window.
Overview Tab: View multiple Galileos in one tab
This is a top-level tab that allows multiple Galileos to be monitored simultaneously. The view can be zoomed in and out to reveal additional details about the connected Galileos.
Keyboard Controls
Tab key navigation now follows the same control, channel by channel on the Galieo Map and the Input/Output Masters pages.
Log Tab
Displays the Galileo Log, an important source of diagnostic information. This information was previously only available in Compass 1.x. This feature is located under the selected Galileo’s Settings/Log tab. There are options to save the log, add a log entry, clear the log, filter the log entries by severity and sort the log by column. Additionally, when Compass is connected, a log entry is created which has the date/time from the client computer. This will help determine when log entries occured since the internal clock is not persistent.
Summing Matrix
Output Channel Selects, Isolates and Link Group Indicators have been added to the Summing Matrix. Note that since matrix settings are not linked across Input Channels, only Output Channel link settings are available.
Snapshot Preview
Allows the contents of a snapshot to be previewed without being recalled.
Filtered Snapshot Recall
Allows the user to include or exclude specific control points prior to recalling a snapshot.
Input & Output Processing: Additional Response Display Options
The frequency response for the Graphic EQ can be turned on in the Input Plotter Display Settings controls under the Response tab. These settings are available by checking the Settings checkbox at the top of the Input Processing tab page. The Atmospheric Correction and Array Correction responses can be turned on in the corresponding tab under Output Processing. These options are turned off by default.

Updated User Interface
Compass includes a comprehensive context help system, full copy and paste of Galileo settings or groups of settings, 1000 levels of undo and redo for all Galileo setting changes and more. The tabbed interface can be scaled to fit any resolution display and the colors can be configured for night or day use. Windows PC and Macintosh OS X versions use the same interface and controls so switching between platforms is completely transparent.
Channel and Multiple Galileo Linking Features
A sophisticated channel linking system allows multiple channels and Galileos to be linked together so settings can be changed across channels yet easily isolated. There is a relative gain mode which allows linked gain changes to be made while keeping the gain differences between linked channels constant. The equalization plotter window includes intuitive and powerful methods for controlling Galileo's various equalization settings.

Galileo 616 - Firmware Version 1.1.0
Power & Grounding when using the Output Voltage Range function:
The adjustable output range provides two level output settings to drive Meyer Sound self-powered products. The +20 dBu output range setting lowers the overall noise floor by nearly 6 dB. However, this setting makes the Galileo output signal more vulnerable to defects in the overall grounding system. Thus the actual improvement attained depends on the quality of the grounding between components. For this reason the default setting has been changed to +26 dBu. In either setting, the digital gain will compensate for either analog output gain so that the overall system output level set in the Galileo will remain the same.
AES Signal: If an input is set to Analog but an AES signal is connected, full scale noise will be applied to the input.
System Changes When Shutting Down:
It is important to wait at least 5 seconds before shutting down the power to Galileo after a new snapshot is saved.
Virtual Galileo
None.
Front Panel Emulator
None.
Galileo Front Panel (including the Emulator)
None.
Version Release 1.0.4 - Code Date: December 8, 2005
KNOWN ISSUES:
All Known Issues were scheduled for maintenance & repair during the first quarter of 2006.
Compass Control Software
Access Codes where one of the three numbers starts with a 0 cannot be unlocked from the front panel. Workaround: Do not use access codes where one of the three numbers starts with a 0.
In the Access Settings section of the System Settings window (select Show Access Settings from the Display menu will show these settings if they are not already visible), the Change Access Button is not enabled after entering the correct code. Because of this, you cannot re-lock the system unless you change a value. Workaround: Change one of the codes to something else and then back again. The Change Access Button will then be re-enabled.
In Access Settings, there is no indication that the system is locked except for the disabled options. The access code entry fields show "0 0 0" when the system is locked. The note "(0 0 0 = not set)" adds to the confusion. Workaround: User must recognize that the system is locked based on the disabled options.
Update Current Snapshot will silently fail if the current snapshot has been deleted. Workaround: Always create and select a new snapshot after deleting the current one.
Even if the active snapshot has been updated, it will still appear as "MODIFIED" in the status bar. Workaround: After updating the current snapshot, you can reload it to remove this indicator. Or, it can simply be ignored.
The "Save Project" option behaves the same as "Save Project As ..." and pops up a file dialog. Workaround: When the file dialog pops up, press the "Save" button.
Compass may not be able to detect Galileo devices on systems with multple ethernet devices. Workaround: Temporarily disable the device that does not connect to your Galileo (e.g. A wireless ethernet device)

For this reason setting the output voltage range to +26 dBu is recommended if grounding is an issue. In either setting, the digital gain will compensate for either analog output gain so that the overall system output level set in the Galileo will remain the same.
AES Signal:
If an input is set to Analog but an AES signal is connected, full scale noise will be applied to the input.
System Changes When Shutting Down:
Changes to the system could be lost if they are made within 0 to 5 seconds of shutting down Galileo. The actual time interval is based on the timing of the changes and shutdown. (e.g. It is possible that a change made within 2 seconds of shutdown will be saved. Changes made at least 5 seconds before shutting down will always be saved.)
Virtual Galileo
The "Generate simulated meter traffic" option causes it to use 99% CPU and will slow your system down. This is a demo feature only and is not required for operation. Workaround: None.
Front Panel Emulator
If Virtual Galileo is not running, adjusting the encoder knobs can cause the interface to hang while hanging onto the mouse. On Windows, CTRL-ALT-DELETE followed by pressing "Cancel" will put you back in a normal state. This problem appears to be intermittent. Workaround: Start Virtual Galileo first.
If Virtual Galileo is not running, the Front Panel Emulator will not fully shut down when closed. Starting Virtual Galileo will allow it to continue to shut down. Workaround: Start Virtual Galileo first.
Output channel selects for channels 9-16 do not have a keyboard shortcut. Workaround: None. This is not an issue for Compass or the real front panel.
Galileo Front Panel (including the Emulator)
Atmospheric controls in Output Processing do not function properly. They apply all changes to channel 1 and do display the values set by Compass. Workaround: Use Compass to adjust Atmospheric Distance and Bypass.
Factory presets #51 and #39 each have 2 output channels labeled incorrectly based on the name of the preset. Workaround: Fix the labels before saving as a new snapshot.
Selecting a channel in the channel option menus in the Equalizer pages does not change the currently selected channel indicator on the front panel. Workaround: Use the buttons on the front panel to change the current channel.
