SIM 3 Release Notes
Version Release 1.7.0 - July 24, 2006 - Code Date: June 28, 2006
SIM System II Files
- Sim 3 can now import Sim System II files and data.
Galileo 616 (Must have Galileo Firmware 1.7.0)
Branch Setup > Switchers: Addresses 10-14 are now reserved for Galileo 616. To measure a Galileo using SIM3 simple connect the buss cable between the 2 devices using the Line Switcher port on the back of SIM3. There are 3 branch combinations available when measuring the Galileo:
- Combination One:
Console = Galileo Output Post Matrix (ex. Ad 10, Ch 1 Sw 10, Cons 1). This uses the output of the Galileo Summing Matrix as the signal that feeds the Console buss.
Processor = Galileo Output Post Processing (ex. Ad 10, Ch 1 Sw 10 Proc 1). This uses the output of the Galileo Output Processing as the signal that feeds the Processor buss.
Note: Selecting Cons 1 on the Console channel will automatically select Proc 1 on the Processor channel. The transfer function shown will represent the output processing applied using Galileo.
- Combination Two:
Console = Front Panel Signal Generator (ex. Ad FP Ch 0 Generator). The SIM signal generator is used as the signal that feeds the Console buss.
Processor = Galileo Output Post Processing (ex. Ad 10, Ch 1 Sw 10 Proc 1). This uses the output of the Galileo Output Processing as the signal that feeds the Processor buss.
Note: The transfer function shown will include any input and output processing applied using Galileo and/or the mixing console.
- Combination Three:
Console = Front Panel Line Input 1 (ex. Ad FP 1 Line In 1) This uses the signal received at Line Input 1 which can be in parallel to the console output feeding Galileo.
Navigation
- Delay Finder: Autoset Delay now much faster
- Frequency Response: Delay Times now listed at the top of each measurement window
- Shift+F7 and shift+F8 control master gain, all gains move up/down together.
- Right-clicking on generator buttons now brings up appropriate generator dialog.
- On-screen buttons for zoom select, branch and gains now have mouse-over help windows (tool tips, balloon help).
- Generator: selecting sine wave now allows user to enter a value for Cal (the value in Vrms when the generator knob is fully clockwise).
Help
- Help > Shortcuts: Displays a list of all available keyboard shortcuts.
- Help > About window now shows % of compact flash used. A warning will be displayed when compact flash filled to 95% or more.
- Help > About window now shows screen resolution.
Display
- Settings > Choose Colors: Customizeable trace colors, available under single view only.
- Vertical scale settings are now stored with the project.
- Calibrate Mic dialog now displays mic sensitivity in mV/Pascal.
DataGroup functions
- Data > Store: Grid view now available for storing and recalling traces.
- Data Store/Recall: Input meters average and peak values are now stored with the measurement, and displayed on the data store/recall panel.
Frequency Response
- Phase 0 or 180 degrees center may now be selected by clicking on the vertical ‘deg’ label to the left of the phase screen.
- Processor or inverse processor (1/processor) may now be selected by clicking on the ‘Processor Amplitude’ or ‘Processor Phase’ labels above the trace screens.
- Percent or dBSN may now be selected by clicking on the vertical ‘percent’ label to the right of the coherence display.
Bug Fixes
- Stability improved for projects containing more than 32 Branches.
Version Release 1.6.42
Display
- Set display to show dark traces on white background for greater visibility in sunlight and better printouts
- Export screenshots to .bmp files
- Export or print DataViewer to .bmp files
- Safe status shown on Speaker and Switcher tabs
Navigation
- Onscreen horizontal zoom buttons in Band Spectrum, Line Spectrum and Frequency Response displays
- Keyboard control of graph cursor movement
Microphone functions
- Microphone calibration for accurate SPL readings (requires third-party mic calibrator tool)
DataGroup functions
- Delete multiple DataGroups
- Edit notes for previously-created DataGroups
- DataGroups saved with new international date format
Bug Fixes
- DSP Driver Bug: On rare occasions, some SIM 3 machines would freeze at startup during the splash screen. Install and Recovery v1.6.42 installs a new DSP driver to fix this problem.
- DSP Firmware Bug: A small number of early SIM 3 machines were shipped with DSP firmware that was incompatible with v1.6.0. Install and Recovery v1.6.42 now checks and updates the DSP firmware if necessary.
- The Switcher tab configuration anomalies have been solved.
- A capital letter M (Shift + M) can now be entered without difficulties.
- Meter gains will now track Branch 0 FP Mic 1.
